Nationals League

I believe in magic

One of the most important things the
Nationals face going

into 2010, is getting a hold of some experienced and

committed players. We all know that most experienced

players are thinking of
one thing and one thing only, a

World Series Win…Well, and money but the
Nationals have

the money. It’s the win potential that looks so grim to these

guys. Some may despair at the signing of Ivan “Pudge”

Rodriguez, a 38
year old Catcher, who has certainly seen his

best days. I beg to differ with
any negative feelings toward

Ivan, and here is why…

LEADERSHIP

This is all very simple.

With a team packed
full of young potential, they need

positive influence by a well respected Veteran,
who has

played in 14 All Star Games, won 13 Gold Gloves, was

voted AL MVP,
caught for two pennant winning clubs, and

has a World Series Ring. He has
nothing left to prove to

anyone. Now he gets to utilize his passion and Love
for the

game of baseball by being a mentor to some young players

with extremely
high value potential. What more could the

Nationals ask for?

A Starting Pitcher who “just wants to
play for a team that

makes him feel wanted”. Jason Marquis. One might
argue

that he doesn’t have what it takes to make a difference on a

ball club
with MLB’s worst pitching staff in 2009, and no,

he is not a Roy Halladay. He
is better. Better pitcher? No,

better fit in Washington? Absolutely. You see,
the

Nationals have the Halladay of the future in Steven

Strasburg, and Marquis
is just the guy to bring it out of

him. Marquis has

STAMINA

which is the one thing I have seen NONE of
in Strasburg

thus far. In fact, I went down to Arizona thinking I was

going to
get the opportunity to watch Strasburg Pitch. Not

once but twice. He was pulled
not once but twice. He woke up

with a sore neck? Oh come on, this kid needs to
be toughened

up or we will never see the full potential of the next best

Pitcher baseball has ever seen.

Jason Marquis, who will be playing in his
hometown, made

9 million in 09, (WAR value almost 8 million higher). The

fact
that he went 15-13 in 09 with an ERA of 4.04, is not

much to write home about.
How about the fact that he has

been in the playoffs for 10 consecutive seasons…Marquis
is

a mentor, and a solid veteran Pitcher. The Nationals aren’t

looking for a
Roy Halladay.  The Nationals are looking to

rise what could very well be the
next best Pitching in

baseball.

The Nationals aren’t quite finished yet…I
look for them to

acquire one more Veteran, an infielder, before opening day…

I just feel it…
