Best Fantasy Baseball Team Names for 2010
As the Fantasy Baseball 2010 season nears, we begin to
ponder about coming up with a perfect name for our fantasy team.
Let’s face it, your team name is important to your ego and
it is the “first impression”
you give to your competitors.
First impressions are
important to Fantasy Sports Addicts, so let us start building a list of
potential team names for the upcoming season…
Just post a comment with any team names you have come up
with or any you have seen around that caught your attention..This should be
fun!!
Andrea
Stephen Strasburg- Pitching Phenomenon?
I expected and
more!
Will Strasburg have
a role in 2010?…
Here are my thoughts:
Steven Strasburg SP Washington
Unfortunately, I did not get to watch him pitch, as he was scratched from the
rising stars game on Saturday night. I did, however, speak to the scouts who
saw his stuff and I did not hear a negative word about him.
The guy pitches over 100mph
(for real) and he hasn’t even turned 20 yet!! My biggest concern with Strasburg,
like the many other superstar prospects in the past, is the hype. This guy had security
around him like he was a Hollywood movie star! While his teammates signed
autographs and chatted with fans, there was a set of rules created exclusively
for him.
just how unhealthy this is for him. Here is why:
We all know what can happen to
a young boy on a pedestal like this, but what about his relationship with his
team? If I’ve said it once I have said it a million times, a good baseball team
is much more than a great pitcher, If the camaraderie isn’t there, the chances
of success are nil. Look at David Price and Matt Weiters, who were expected to
be great major league players their first season.
The media hype led fantasy players to
stash these guys away in non-keeper leagues as if they were such assets they
would actually add enough value to store for the first half of the season
If
this is the reaction of an otherwise logical mindset of a fantasy owner, just
imagine the pressure we put on these kids to be perfect. Bottom line, nobody
plays baseball like a vet in their first year.
Hold your pants on, and unless
you are in a keeper league do whatever it takes to resist the urge to draft
this guy in the first round!

I believe…In Jason Marquis..
Nationals League
-
I believe in magic
One of the most important things the
Nationals face going
into 2010, is getting a hold of some experienced and
committed players. We all know that most experienced
players are thinking of
one thing and one thing only, a
World Series Win…Well, and money but the
Nationals have
the money. It’s the win potential that looks so grim to these
guys. Some may despair at the signing of Ivan “Pudge”
Rodriguez, a 38
year old Catcher, who has certainly seen his
best days. I beg to differ with
any negative feelings toward
Ivan, and here is why…
LEADERSHIP
This is all very simple.
With a team packed
full of young potential, they need
positive influence by a well respected Veteran,
who has
played in 14 All Star Games, won 13 Gold Gloves, was
voted AL MVP,
caught for two pennant winning clubs, and
has a World Series Ring. He has
nothing left to prove to
anyone. Now he gets to utilize his passion and Love
for the
game of baseball by being a mentor to some young players
with extremely
high value potential. What more could the
Nationals ask for?
A Starting Pitcher who “just wants to
play for a team that
makes him feel wanted”. Jason Marquis. One might
argue
that he doesn’t have what it takes to make a difference on a
ball club
with MLB’s worst pitching staff in 2009, and no,
he is not a Roy Halladay. He
is better. Better pitcher? No,
better fit in Washington? Absolutely. You see,
the
Nationals have the Halladay of the future in Steven
Strasburg, and Marquis
is just the guy to bring it out of
him. Marquis has
STAMINA
which is the one thing I have seen NONE of
in Strasburg
thus far. In fact, I went down to Arizona thinking I was
going to
get the opportunity to watch Strasburg Pitch. Not
once but twice. He was pulled
not once but twice. He woke up
with a sore neck? Oh come on, this kid needs to
be toughened
up or we will never see the full potential of the next best
Pitcher baseball has ever seen.
Jason Marquis, who will be playing in his
hometown, made
9 million in 09, (WAR value almost 8 million higher). The
fact
that he went 15-13 in 09 with an ERA of 4.04, is not
much to write home about.
How about the fact that he has
been in the playoffs for 10 consecutive seasons…Marquis
is
a mentor, and a solid veteran Pitcher. The Nationals aren’t
looking for a
Roy Halladay. The Nationals are looking to
rise what could very well be the
next best Pitching in
baseball.
The Nationals aren’t quite finished yet…I
look for them to
acquire one more Veteran, an infielder, before opening day…
I just feel it…
